Description:
A ScottsdaleARC and MARCA tradition. The two clubs meet together at the same venue and have a nice Christmas dinner and a presentation concerning issues that impact our community and/or state. This dinner serves two purposes. The first is to give back to the community and the other to help our club members be more aware of what is happening in our cities or state. We do this by having our dinner at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). We contract with EVIT to have the Culinary Arts students prepare our dinner and have it served by the students. We like to do this to help these students learn how to practice the arts they are being taught. Secondly, we have presentations after dinner about topics that are relevant to where we live with the goal of making us more aware of our surroundings.
Presentation: This year's presenter is Joanna Allhands from the editorial staff at the Arizona Republic. Both clubs are keenly aware of the drought that is impacting our state and we would love for this person to give us a presentation of where an expert thinks this issue is going and how it might impact us folks living in Arizona. The presentation is usually 1 hour long and afterward there is a question-and-answer period.
